Cameroon – Accident: Paul Biya reacts to accident that claimed over 7 lives!
Paul Biya, the
Cameroonian head of state instructed the immediate opening of an
investigation in order to establish responsibilities, reports the
statement from the presidency of the Republic.
According to Jean Baptiste Bokam, the Secretary of State for Defense, speaking on CRTV radio, “the accident is due to the fact that on the road, there was a semi-trailer (truck) parked, without signaling. A Bus (from the Meli
agency, Editor’s note), coming from the oposite direction, with the
permissible capacity of 70 seats, and was carrying at least 80 people,
violently hit another semitrailer, which overtook the parked truck
without signaling. This resulted in a fire that took over all vehicles
involved. “
“While the fire was underway,
another bus coming at full speed, violently hit the vehicles that were
burning. This second shock caused serious injuries, on local
populations, who come to help the injured, “said the Secretary of State for Defense.
According to a first assessment made by the security services, at least seven people were burnt, 48 others injured. The vehicles were completely reduced to ashes. According to community sources, there would be dozens of deaths, from the second shock.
